Cigarini, Ewalt, Galas Earn NAIA Player of the Week Nods

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Caterina Cigarini of Missouri Baptist has been named the NAIA National Women’s Volleyball Attacker of the Week, Alex Ewalt of Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) has been named the NAIA National Women’s Volleyball Defender of the Week and Olivia Galas of Bellevue (Neb.) has been named the NAIA National Volleyball Setter of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. The trio was selected based on their performances from Sept. 24-30 and were chosen out of a pool of conference and Association of Independent Institution winners.

Attacker of the Week

Caterina Cigarini, Missouri Baptist
6-4, SR, MB, Modena, Italy

  • Cigarini helped her team to an undefeated week against conference opponents St. Louis College of Pharmacy (Mo.) and Lindenwood Belleville as well as RV Ottawa (Kan.) and No. 4 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.).

  • Ewalt was an All-Tournament selection at the Holiday Inn Express Invitational as she helped her team to a 4-0 weekend.
