Cignal Star Jovelyn Gonzaga Suffers Strained Muscle After Landing Awkwardly

Jovelyn Gonzaga of Cignal went down with a right knee injury against F2 Logistics in the Philippine Superliga.

The injury occurred in the second set at 21-13, as Cignal was down. Gonzaga attempted to recover her attack that was blocked but she landed awkwardly in the process. Gonzaga was immediately rushed to the Cardinal Santos Medical Center with the doctors ruling out any major injuries. According to head coach George Pascua, Gonzaga suffered a muscle strain with no surgery needed and will be out for one to two weeks.

Gonzaga has established herself as one of the best players in the Philippines and was instrumental for the team during the 2017 Asian Women’s Volleyball Championships and the 2017 Southeast Asian Games.
