COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State’s Kirstie Hillyer and New Mexico’s Mariessa Carrasco earned the Mountain West Women’s Volleyball Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively, for contests through Oct. 27. It’s the second weekly honor for Carrasco and the fourth for Hillyer.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
KIRSTIE HILLYER, COLORADO STATE
Junior, Middle Blocker, Bayfield, Colorado / Bayfield HS
- Leading Colorado State to a pair of crucial Mountain West victories, tallied 20 kills on 28 total attacks versus San Diego State and Fresno State this past weekend.
- The junior committed only one error during the two victories for the Rams and had an attack percentage of .679.
- Also had two block solos and five assisted blocks, while averaging 1.17 blocks per set and 3.33 kills per set.
- Behind Hillyer’s strong performance, Colorado State jumped to the top of the Conference standings with just six matches remaining.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
MARIESSA CARRASCO, NEW MEXICO
Senior, Middle Blocker, San Angelo, Texas / Chapin HS
- Leading New Mexico to an undefeated week, recorded a team‐high 11 total blocks with an average of 1.57 blocks per set, which also led the Lobos. Also recorded a team‐best 10 assisted blocks.
- Started both matches during the weekend and played in all 7 sets, registering 14 kills and a hitting percentage of .370.
- Had 20 points on the week, an average of 2.86 per set.
