HACKENSACK, N.J. – Andrea Nolan will be the head coach at Fairleigh Dickinson for the foreseeable future as the school has announced it is removing the interim tag from the first year head coach.

Nolan was named as Fairleigh Dickinson’s interim head coach back in August, when previous coach Stacey Recanati announced she was moving into the Associate Athletic Director of Administration role at the school.

Recanati had been the head coach of the program since 1990, while Nolan had worked under her for three years before taking over the program.

“I am extremely eager to begin this endeavor,” Nolan said in the school’s August 14 announcement. “Coach Recanati has had a great influence on me as a coach and I look forward to the challenge of continuing to develop this team. We have a great group of newcomers mixed in with some key contributors from last year’s squad and I cannot wait for the season to get underway.”

Under Nolan’s leadership, the Knights went 5-24 in 2017, a two-match improvement over its 2016 finish (3-29), and return all but two players.

“This is a great opportunity and I believe that we have a foundation of players who accept the responsibility required to build a tradition of competitiveness and winning,” Nolan said upon the announcment of her retainment as head coach. “It starts with hard work in the offseason and our players are embracing the challenge. Looking ahead, our plan is to bring in competitive players who are willing to put in the work and training needed to succeed in the Northeast Conference and bring championships to Fairleigh Dickinson University.”

In Nolan’s first two years as an assistant with the Knights, the team went 6-23 (2014) and 10-19 (2015).

Prior to joining the FDU staff, Nolan played at Southern Connecticut State and LIU Post, graduating in 2012.
