Florida State has added a game against Auburn on September 16th to its schedule
The historic run of hurricanes on the mainland United States, including the monstrous Hurricane Irma that hit Florida over the weekend and the torrential rain and flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey in Texas two weeks ago, has disrupted the start of the collegiate volleyball season for many top programs.
While volleyball is of secondary concern as compared to resident safety and recovery of impacted areas, the show must go on. Florida State has added a game against against Auburn on September 16th. Auburn had a date open up after the FIU/Miami Classic was cancelled for this coming weekend. That tournament was to include FIU, Miami, South Alabama, Auburn, James Madison, and Savannah State.
Now, Auburn and Florida State will instead play in Tallahassee on September 16th at 2:00PM, which will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra.
Florida State leads the all-time series over Auburn 16-1, including a 4-0 record in Tallahassee, but Auburn has momentum on their side: they’re 7-1 this season, and have already beat 4 ACC opponents (Georgia Tech, NC State, Clemson, and conference favorites North Carolina). Florida State is 5-1 this season and sit at #20 in the week 4 VolleyMob rankings. Their best win this season is a 3-2 opener against Baylor, while their lone loss is to Colorado State.
