Former Brazilian National Team member Paula Renata Marques Pequeno is making Volei Bauru her new home for the 2017-2018 season. The 184 cm (6’0″) attacker/receiver will join her seventh different Brazilian club as she moves on from four seasons with Brasília Volei.

The move puts Pequeno on a club that fared slightly better in 2016-2017. Her old club, Brasilia Volei, finished sixth (37 points) in the Brazilian Superliga. That was just behind her new club, Volei Bauru (40 points), in the league table. Neither team advanced out of the quarterfinal round in the playoffs.

With the change in teams, Pequeno will now have spent time with nine different clubs throughout her career: ASBAC (1994-1997), Leites Nestlé (1997-1998), Dayvit (1998-1999), Osasco (1999-2009), Zarechie Odintsovo (2009-2010), Volei Futuro (2010-2012), Fenerbahce Istanbul (2012-2013), Brasília Volei (2013-2017) and now Volei Bauru. All but two have been clubs in her homeland of Brazil – one of those was Fenerbahce, who she won a bronze medal with at the 2012 FIVB Club World Championship. In her latest stop, Pequeno was part of the Brasília Volei teams that finished eighth, seventh, fifth and now sixth in her four seasons respectively.

Beyond her club career, she was also on the Brazilian National Team from 2002-2012. Pequeno won gold with Brazil in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, in addition to many other medals at other high-level events.
