Former USC OH Alyse Ford Transfers To Fellow Pac-12 School Arizona St.

Former USC outside hitter Alyse Ford is leaving the program but remaining in the Pac-12 Conference as she is transferring to Arizona State. Ford will be a senior come the fall of 2018. It’s unclear at this point if Ford will be immediately eligible, which could be a challenge since the move is in conference, but whether she plays in 2018 or 2019 it will be her final season indoors.

The 5’10” Ford spent three seasons with USC, helping them to an Elite Eight in 2015 as a member of the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team and the same round this past year as a junior. In her most recent campaign, she logged 187 kills (2.31 per set) on a .232 mark, 90 digs (1.11 per set), 18 blocks (0.22 per set) and four aces. It was the least amount of sets she appeared in – at 81 – during her career though after 127 in 2015 and 101 in 2016.

Statistically, her best season in kills (332), hitting percentage (.238) and blocks (55)/blocks per set (0.43) came as a freshman. Her top marks in kills per set (2.69), aces (8)/aces per set (0.08) and digs (205)/digs per set (2.03) were in year two. To go with it in 2015 and 2016, Ford also earned Pac-12 All-Conference honorable mention honors.

USC of course, despite going 25-10 (14-6 Pac-12) and appearing in the Regional Finals, let go head coach Mick Haley. The loss of Ford leaves the current Trojans’ roster with just two outside hitters, although one is Khalia Lanier.

Prior to her stint in southern California, the Laguna Beach, California native prepped at Mater Dei High School and with Laguna Beach Volleyball Club. In her final season at Mater Dei, she was the 2014 CIF 1AA Co-Player of the Yer to cap off being a three-time All-CIF selection. She was also ranked as the #16 recruit by PrepVolleyball.

It’s also the third transfer addition for the Sun Devils this offseason, as Ford joins former WAC Freshman of the Year and Grand Canyon OH Claire Kovensky in strengthening the pin along with DS/L Kennedy Hehr from Coastal Carolina.

Ford also joins a group of now seven outside hitters on the 2018 roster for Arizona State. The Sun Devils are coming off of a 10-22 season in which they went 0-20 in the Pac-12.
