Four teams played their way into the Montpellier One-Star main draw through Thursday’s qualification round.

France’s Adrian Caravano and Yann Faure, Russia’s Maksim Hudyakov and Ruslan Bykanov, Serbia’s Lazar Kolaric and Djordje Klasnic and Dutch duo Ruben Penninga and Tom van Steenis each won a pair of matches to advance to the Round of 16.

The French pair won a pair of straight set affairs to give the country five entries in the main draw.

The Russians went the distance in the opening round, topping Spain’s Raul Mesa and Christian Garcia 18-21, 21-19, 15-7. Caravano/Faure then knocked out the top seeded qualifiers, Germany’s Philipp Arne Bergmann and Yannick Harms to punch their ticket to the Round of 16.

The Serbians won a close opening round match, then had to battle through a three-set affair to move on. Kolaric/Klasnic edged Switzerland’s Adrian Heidrich and Michiel Zandbergen 21-14, 18-21, 15-13 in Round 2.

The final pair to move on were the Dutch, which won a tight three-setter to clinch their spot. A 21-18, 23-25, 15-13 win over Estonia’s Mart Tiisaar and Kusti Nolvak put Penninga/van Steenis through to the main draw.
