Friesen Takes Game from Georgia State to Point Loma Nazarene

Junior libero Celeste Friesen will be taking her game to California, transferring to Point Loma Nazarene after two years at Georgia State.

Friesen paced Georgia State with 4.96 digs per set, while also chipping in 1.05 assists per set and 33 aces, second most on the team, en route to second team All-Sun Belt honors in 2017. The Marietta, Georgia, native, who was born in Redding, California, played in 114 of the team’s 117 sets, pulling up 30 or more digs four times, including a career-best 36 against Coastal Carolina.

As a freshman, Friesen notched a team-leading 4.07 digs per set and 0.67 assists per set, while serving up a team-high 36 aces. She posted double-digit kills in 23 matches, including 20 or more five times and a season-high 33 vs. UT Arlington.

Georgia State went 10-18 in 2016 and 10-19 in 2017.

Friesen was a two-time MaxPreps Underclassman All-American and a 2015 MaxPrep High School All-American at George Walton Comprehensive school.
