Brazilian SuperLiga finalist Funvic Taubaté added Serbian wing-striker Marko Ivovic in hopes of completing what they came so close to winning this season. The Serbian was previously with Asseco Resovia Rzeszów in Poland for the 2016-2017 season.
Ivovic was the Most Valuable Player of the 2016 FIVB World League when Serbia won the crown. He also won Best Outside Spiker. This year, Ivovic has totaled 69 points in five matches for Serbia as they sit at second in the Group 1 table.
Prior to the World League this year and now his upcoming time at Funvic, Ivovic’s Asseco Resovia Rzeszów claimed second in the regular season standings in the PlusLiga. However, they suffered a disappointing postseason that featured two losses without winning a set to finish fourth in the league. Ivovic also was a part of Asseco Resovia Rzeszów back in the 2014-2015 season as he spent a year with Belogorie Belgorod in between his two stints with the Polish club.
Funvic was looking for a big transfer in a SuperLiga title chase, as they just fell in the finals of the Brazilian league. They lost in four sets in that SuperLiga final to Sada Cruzeiro. Now, with Ivovic, Funvic Taubaté will try to get over the hump.
