OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Hayden Wagner – George Mason – 6-6 – OH – Sophomore – York, Pa.
Sophomore Hayden Wagner has been selected as the EIVA Offensive Player of the Week after recording a career-high 24 kills in a 3-1 victory at home against Mount Olive on Friday. In George Mason’s only match, Wagner hit .459 while also recording three service aces, all career-bests. Defensively he would add three digs and two total blocks. Wagner is currently 1st in the EIVA in kills per set (3.86) and points per set (4.5). This is Hayden’s first EIVA Offensive Player of the Week selection in 2018.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Johnny Gomez – George Mason – 6-1 – Libero – Graduate – Indialantic, Fla.
Graduate Johnny Gomez has been selected as the EIVA Defensive Player of the Week after recording 14 digs in a four set victory over Mount Olive on Friday evening. His efforts on the defensive end would only allow the Trojans to hit .106. Gomez is currently 2nd in the EIVA in digs (50) and 4th in digs per set (2.38). This is Johnny’s first EIVA Defensive Player of the Week selection in 2018.
