Hungarian club Kecskeméti has announced in its official website that it has signed Serbian national teamer Borislav Petrovic to a contract through the end of its 2018 season. Although still recovering from a shoulder injury that left him sidelined the last couple of months, when he was signed to Serbia’s Novi Sad, Petrovic should be ready to debut in the next few days.

The 30-year-old 6’7″ Petrovic has previously played in Serbia, France, and Slovenia. With Serbia’s national team, he  won a gold medal at the 2011 CEV European Championship and a bronze medal at the 2011 FIVB World Championship.

The club states that the main reason for the signing is that it sees itself with real chances to win both the Hungarian Championship and Hungarian Cup this season, and the addition of Petrovic greatly heightens the possibility of its success. Indeed, the team currently sits in 2nd place of its domestic league standings, with a 12-1 record, while it will play the first leg match of its Hungarian cup semifinals due against Money Guard this weekend.

The signing looks ideal for Petrovic. Coming back from a serious injury, if he does well in Hungary, he will certainly be noticed by bigger clubs, which greatly enhances his chance of being called upon by the Serbian national team again.
