HYPE: Swatch Major Series Returns to Gstaad for 3rd Straight Year

The 2017 Swatch Beach Volleyball Major Series is currently in its biggest break of the year; but at the end of June, things heat up as the tour shifts to Europe for back-to-back majors in Porec, Croatia (June 27-July 2) and Gstaad, Switzerland (July 4-9).

Last year, the eventual Olympic champions Alison and Bruno Schmidt won the men’s team, while Germany’s Laboureur/Sude won the women’s draw in Porec. In Gstaad, it was a Brazilian sweep – this time, Evandro/Pedro Solberg won the men’s tournament, while Larissa/Talita won the women’s title.

Below, FIVB has released a video to hype the Gstaad Major, which returns to the Roy Emerson Arena for the 3rd-straight year. The arena, originally built for tennis, has a capacity of 4,500: enough to fit half the population of the city itself.
