Italian Women’s Serie A Championship Update
Imoco Volley Conegliano got their revenge over Igor Gorgonzola Novara in the third round of the Serie A championship with a 3-0 sweep. After falling to Novara in the first round 0-3, Imoco narrowly won the second round 3-2, and now holds a 2-1 series lead overall. For the first time this season, one team swept all categories with Imoco beating out Novara in every major statistic. Surprisingly, Imoco Volley Conegliano was able to pull off the win after Raphaela Folie injured her knee at the beginning of the second set. She will miss the rest of the season as a a result. Luckily, Laura Melandri was able to step in and notch 3 blocks after replacing Folie. Novara is in a must win situation in the next match to keep their championship hopes alive.
