Jabarry Goodridge Picks Up Second Straight EIVA Player Of The Week

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jabarry Goodridge – NJIT – 6-4 – OH – Senior – Bridgetown, Barbados

Senior Jabarry Goodridge has been selected as the EIVA Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week after averaging 4.54 kills/set in a 4-0 week for NJIT. Goodridge began with a season-high 24 kills in a 3-1 victory at Coker on Tuesday evening as he hit .340. The following evening Jabarry would record 15 kills in a sweep at Belmont Abbey while hitting .440. The Highlanders would then visit Charleston (W. Va.) for a pair of EIVA matches as Goodridge combined to record 20 more kills in backto-back 3-0 wins as he hit .526 in Saturday’s match. For the week, Jabarry recorded 59 kills and hit .358 as he ranks 1st in the EIVA in kills (327) and kills/set (4.48) while ranked 3rd in hitting percentage (.343). Nationally, Goodridge is 1st in points/set (5.24) and 2nd in kills/set. This is Jabarry’s second EIVA Offensive Player of the Week selection in 2017.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Tony Nicotra – Saint Francis (Pa.) – 6-7 – OH – R.S. – Senior – Allison Park, Pa.

R.S. – Senior Tony Nicotra has been selected as the EIVA Defensive Player of the Week as he recorded eight total blocks in a 3-2 victory at home against California Baptist on Saturday. Nicotra’s block total would be a career-high for him as he also added five kills on the offensive end and hit .364 during the match. This is Nicotra’s first EIVA Defensive Player of the Week selection in 2017.
