2017 FIVB LONG BEACH PRESIDENTS CUP
- July 12-16
- Long Beach, California
- Double-gender
In a clash that seemed inevitable, just two months after they split up their partnership, Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross face off for the first time.
The pair squared off in Long Beach, California at the Long Beach President’s Cup, which features a number of American pairs and international pairs of both genders competing. The American duos and the international squads face off against each other in the main draw, followed by the top two American teams facing off against the top-two international pairs in the next round.
Kicking off their competition play, the two former partners battled in a close, tough match to the end. Ross and Lauren Fendrick took the glory in the match with the 2-0, (22-20, 21-18) win over Walsh-Jennings/Nicole Branagh.

Walsh-Jennings/Branagh have struggled since pairing up, not qualifying for any major FIVB World Tour events after beginning in the qualification rounds. They did, however, find their way into the Vienna World Beach Championships that will begin at the end of July in Austria.
To end their day, Walsh-Jennings/Branagh lost to former college standouts, Kelly Claes/Sara Hughes 2-1, (21-23, 21-19, 15-10).
Ross/Fendrick have done well together since pairing up, winning the New York stop of the AVP Tour. To finish their day, the duo took down Betsi Flint/Kelley Larsen 2-0, (21-13, 21-19).
