RICHMOND, Va. – Jocelyn Kuilan of Towson earned her first Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Offensive Player of the Week honor of the 2018 season while UNCW’s Kendall Bender took home CAA Defensive Player of the Week honors and Hofstra’s Aisha Skinner was named CAA Rookie of the Week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jocelyn Kuilan, Towson
Senior | Right Side | Toa Boja, Puerto Rico/Bayamon Military Academy
Kuilan provided the bulk of Towson’s offensive force in the Tigers’ 2-0 week. She put down 30 total kills, including 20 Thursday night at Elon, her first 20-kill performance of the season. For the week, Kuilan hit for .407, including .429 at Elon. The senior dropped in four service aces on the week as well. Kuilan added three block assists to round out a strong showing on the week.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kendall Bender, UNCW
Junior | Middle Blocker | Charlotte, N.C./Providence
Bender led the Seahawks’ defensive efforts on the week as UNCW went 2-1 against three tough CAA opponents. She totaled 21 blocks for the week and also had 23 kills with a .352 hitting percentage. In the Seahawks’ upset of Hofstra, Bender led UNCW with eight blocks. Her efforts allowed UNCW to out-block each of its three opponents. Bender currently sits second in the CAA with 66 blocks.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Aisha Skinner, Hofstra
Freshman| Right Side | Berlin, Germany/SLZB
In another outstanding week for the Hofstra freshman, Skinner led the Pride in kills with 37 and was second on the team with 24 digs. She added four blocks, a service ace and hit. 329 for the week. In the Pride’s first match of the week, Skinner established a new career-high with 18 kills in the big four-set win over Charleston. She hit a strong .394 in the match, while also adding eight digs and two blocks. She would follow that up with arguably the best match of her young career on Sunday as she once again had a career-high with 19 kills, while also adding 16 digs and two blocks. The dig total was one off her season-high and the double-double was her sixth of the season.
