As part of Nebraska’s 3-0 sweep of Northwestern on Saturday, sophomore middle blocker Lauren Stivrins gave the Huskers’ offense a boost from an unexpected spot.

Registering just the 2nd double-digit kills performance of her career, Stivrins hit 10-for-10 in the match. That makes her just the 6th Big Ten player (and 3rd Cornhusker) to hit 1.000 on at least 10 swings in a match:

Perfect Days, Big Ten History

  • Debbie McDonald, Purdue (13-0-13) vs. N.C. State, 9/25/87
  • Cara Smith, Penn State (11-0-11) vs. Army, 9/14/02
  • Meghan Macdonald, Illinois (12-0-12) vs. Indiana, 11/17/06
  • Kristen Arthurs, Purdue (10-0-10) vs. Ball State, 8/28/09
  • Samantha Throwers, Indiana (15-0-15) vs. Buffalo, 9/3/11
  • Lauren Stivrins, Nebraska (10-0-10) vs. Northwestern, 9/28/18

Perfect Days, Nebraska History (both previous occasions occurred when they were still in the Big 12)

  • Tracy Stalls, Nebraska (13-0-13) vs. Texas Tech, 11/24/07
  • Megan Korver, Nebraska (10-0-10) vs. Iowa State, 9/25/98
  • Lauren Stivrins, Nebraska (10-0-10) vs. Northwestern, 9/28/18

Stivrins becomes the first player this season, with at least 10 swings, to record a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage. The best qualifying single-match hitting percentage up to this point of the season came from South Alabama’s Hannah Harris, who hit 13-for-14 three weeks ago against Alabama State.

IUPUI’s Abby Boatman is the only player to have pulled it off last season, when she went 10-for-10 out of the middle against Youngstown State.
