The Long Beach State tandem in Anete Brinke and Hailey Harward earned Big West Pairs Team of the Week honors after a perfect week for the 49ers.
Sophomore Anete Brinke (Riga, Latvia/Riga State Gymnasium No. 3) and freshman Hailey Harward (Phoenix, Ariz./Desert Vista HS) went 2-0 last week versus Cal Poly and Loyola Marymount to help LBSU to a perfect outing in a tri-dual at Manhattan Beach. Both the Mustangs and the Lions are receiving votes in this week’s AVCA Collegiate Beach Volleyball Poll.
Brinke and Harward won their first contest in straight-sets at the No. 3 spot over CP (21-17, 21-9) and moved up a spot in the lineup before picking up a key win at the No. 2 spot at Loyola Marymount (21-13, 21-11).
This is the first award for the duo as Brinke and Harward bring home LBSU’s fourth weekly honor this season.
