Loyola-Chicago Sweeps MIVA Player Of The Week Honors

Loyola has earned both Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Players of the Week, for the period ending Feb. 19. Collin Mahan picked up the Offensive Player of the Week honor while Jeff Jendryk earned the Defensive Player of the Week accolade.

Collin Mahan hit .511 for the week and averaged 4.00 kills per set as No. 9 Loyola knocked off Fort Wayne and 12th-ranked Ball State. The sophomore outside hitter had a career-best 19 kills, hitting .630 (19-2-27) in a four-set victory over the Mastodons on February 16. He then accounted for nine kills (9-3-18) to help the Ramblers sweep Ball State for their 19th straight home win against the Cardinals. Mahan leads the Ramblers in kills (117) and digs (80) and is hitting .305 this season.

Jeff Jendryk averaged 2.43 blocks per set as Loyola won a pair of MIVA matches. The 6-foot-10 middle blocker had seven blocks in Loyola’s four-set victory over Fort Wayne on February 16. Jendryk followed up that performance with a career-best 10 blocks to power Loyola to a sweep of Ball State two days later. For the season, Jendryk is leading the club with 1.29 blocks per set (59 total).
