The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) has honored McKendree opposite hitter Maalik Walker and Loyola middle blocker Paul Narup with the league’s weekly awards. Walker has been named the Offensive Player of the Week. Narup has been named the Defensive Player of the Week. Both awards recognize the period ending March 26.
Opposite Maalik Walker averaged 3.86 kills per set on a .339 attack percentage last week in a pair of MIVA wins. He started his week with a 16 kill performance in a 3-1 win over then No. 11 Ball State. The senior added four aces in the match. He returned with 11 kills on 18 swings against Fort Wayne, hitting .556 on the program’s inaugural senior night that honored eight members of the first ever recruiting class. Walker added two aces in the sweep.
Middle blocker Paul Narup averaged 2.00 blocks per set last week as the Ramblers defeated Saint Francis (PA) and Penn State. He had seven block assists in Loyola’s sweep of Saint Francis before recording seven blocks (one solo) against Penn State on Saturday. The sophomore also added two digs in Saturday’s match with Penn State.
