2017 FIVB WORLD U18 GIRLS’ CHAMPIONSHIPS

Madison Horin was recently named the captain for Team USA during the U18 World Championship that will be taking place from August 18th to August 27th in Rosario and Santa Fe, Argentina.  The 6’3″ 16 year old middle blocker from Munster, Indiana has already committed to the University of Southern California to play indoor volleyball.

Following a silver medal finish in 2015, Team USA will be competing in Pool B against Russia, Belarus, Brazil, and Mexico.

Top-ranked Team USA will face Russia, the reigning European Champions, in their first match August 19th at 9 a.m. Eastern Time.  Other opportunities to catch Madison and the rest of Team USA in action during pool play are:

  • August 20th at 11 a.m. ET versus Belarus
  • August 21st at 11 a.m. ET versus Brazil
  • August 22nd at 9 a.m. ET versus Mexico

She leads a roster that includes 3 players that return from last year’s Youth National squad, though this is her first time on the roster. Horin is part of a trio of middle blockers that will give the Americans a huge size advantage against most of their U18 foes and should lead to a big blocking performance that has become a hallmark of American youth teams. She’s joined in central defense by 6’5″ Kendall Kipp from Laguna Beach and 6’3″ Holly Campbell from Austin Juniors.
