Six teams dropped out of the USA Today Super 25 Expert Rankings from week two into week three.

There is a new #1 high school team in week three of the season, as Mater Dei in Santa Ana, California took over the top spot from Assumption out of Louisville, Kentucky. Mater Dei has posted a 9-2 record so far on the year, while Assumption, a team that is highly regarded dropped their first match, now having a 15-1 record.

Mater Dei has a strong lineup this season that has helped them propel to the top, including seniors Kelsey Campeau, Abbie Cherin and Siena Secrist. All three are committed to large Division I volleyball programs following their season – Campeau to UCLA, Cherin to West Virginia and Secrist to USC. In addition, junior Kristina Pepek is verbally committed to UCSB and sophomore Meg Brown has announced her verbal commitment to Alabama.

The change between #1 and #2 was the only major change in the top-five of the rankings. Zooming straight into the top-19, though, is Iolani out of Honolulu, Hawaii, as they were previously unranked but enter week three as the #6 team.
