Former Diatec Trentino player, Matey Kaziyski, has returned back to his old training facility – BLM Group Arena – following the conclusion of his season in Japan.

Kaziyski, a Bulgarian outside hitter, was looking to stay in shape following his season’s end, so he returned to Trentino where he had some of the most successful seasons of his career. With Trentino, Kaziyski helped the team win three CEV Champions League titles and four FIVB Club World Championships.

His presence on the court is helping the team to prepare for their upcoming Champions League matches and Italian League playoffs. The team recently advanced to the Playoffs 6 of the Champions League after sweeping through Chaumont VB 52 Haute Marne in the second leg, despite losing to them in five in the first round. Additionally, they are simultaneously are competing in the Italian League playoffs where they are facing off against Calzedonia Verona. There they won the first meeting in five sets but recently just fell in a five-setter to Verona in the second match of the best of three series. The two teams will meet once against on March 24 to determine who will move on to the next round of the competition.

It is uncertain at this time where Kaziyski will end up to play for the next season but could be a huge help to the Bulgarian team at the FIVB Nations League this summer if selected to participate on the team. Bulgaria is one of the four challenger teams of the newly formed FIVB competition along with Australia, Canada and Korea. The pools have been determined for the competition, with each team prepped to play in at least 15 matches over a 5 week period of time.
