Dutch National Team setter Laura Dijkema will be one to impact player to highlight during the Women’s European Volleyball Championship starting tomorrow. So much so, that the CEV put out a video to keep an eye on Dijkema:

A 6’0″ 27 year-old setter, Dijkema began playing volleyball at seven years old in her hometown of Beilen. Nine years later she was already in the highest league in Netherlands playing at DOK as a teenager. After bouncing around a few clubs, she got her first National Team experience and has been with the squad ever since while she has bounced around some German clubs and most recently played in Italy for Novarra.

Dijkema will look to bring home some hardware for Netherlands – something she has done before. After helping the Dutch to bronze at the 2015 Montreux Volley Masters, Dijkema helped the team bring home silver at the 2015 CEV European Championship. In 2016, she was also a vital piece in Netherlands taking home another bronze, this time at the World Grand Prix. Although she didn’t medal at the Rio Olympics, it was a historic fourth place finish for the Dutch to add on to her lengthy resume.

In the Netherlands’ most recent national competition, the 2017 FIVB World Grand Prix, Netherlands advanced to the Final Six. However, they were unable to advance to the final four as they were one of three European teams in the last six. Over the course of the tournament, Dijkema finished second in assists per set at 7.06.
