OGDEN, Utah – Sacramento State’s Mikaela Nocetti and Northern Colorado’s Taylor Els were recognized as the #BigSkyVB Players of the Week. Nocetti was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while Els earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Nocetti, a senior outside hitter from Carmichael, Calif., had a monster week in leading the Hornets to a pair of three-set home sweeps of Idaho State and Weber State. Making the victories even sweeter is they came against the two teams that began the week in first place in the Big Sky standings. Despite both matches lasting just three sets, Nocetti had at least 18 kills in each match while averaging a massive 6.50 kills per set. She also averaged 3.17 digs and 6.75 points per set while hitting .290. That included 39 kills with just 10 errors in 100 swings.

A first team all-Big Sky selection a year ago, Nocetti now leads the conference with 4.01 kills per set. She also averages 2.45 digs and 0.34 aces per set. The aces are the sixth best mark in the league. She has recorded double figures in kills in 10 straight matches and 19 times overall this season to go along with 10 double-doubles.

Els, a junior libero from Lincoln, Neb., continues to be the key to UNC’s defense on the back row, finishing the weekend with 6.44 digs per set in nine total sets played. Els set a career-high with 36 digs against NAU and added two service aces with no errors. Against SUU, Els recorded 22 digs. Els also had five assists in the two matches combined. Els was key in holding both SUU and NAU to low percentages. SUU ended with a .197 attack percentage, while NAU had a .195 average.
