Olin, Els, Keck Tabbed as Big Sky Players of the Week

OGDEN, Utah  – Sacramento State’s Ashtin Olin, Northern Colorado’s Taylor Els and Idaho State’s Haylie Keck were all recognized as #BigSkyVB Players of the Week. Olin was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while Els and Keck earned Co-Defensive Player of the Week recognition.

Olin, a freshman setter, helped lead Sacramento State to a 2-0 record last week, which included a 3-1 home victory over Southern Utah and a 3-2 win against Northern Arizona. The freshman setter produced a well-balanced stat line of 0.89 kills, 10.67 assists, 2.11 digs, 0.89 blocks, 0.33 aces and 1.67 points per set. She hit .400 for the week, which included eight kills and just two errors in 15 attempts. She had at least 45 assists in both matches and quarterbacked a Hornet offense that finished the week with a .283 hitting percentage.

Els, a junior libero from Lincoln Neb., had another outstanding week on the back row for the Bears. Els recorded 6.00 digs per set for a total of 36 in six total sets played. Els added two service aces for a 0.33 per set average. Els helped to coordinate the Bears defense over the weekend, helping UNC hold Montana to a .096 attack percentage and Montana State to a .186 attack percentage.

Keck, a junior libero from Iona, Idaho, averaged 6.00 digs per set with 42 total on the weekend. Keck anchored a Bengal defensive effort that held its opponents to a .107 hitting clip. She also posted a .964 reception percentage as well to help make Idaho State the only remaining team without a loss in Big Sky Conference play.
