Nebraska-Omaha announced a second transfer will join its ranks in Courtney Morehead, a junior-to-be from Drake.
Morehead, a 5-6 libero, joins Creighton transfer Jaclyn Taylor, on the Mavericks roster this spring. The Bellevue, Nebraska, native averaged 2.93 digs and served up 17 aces, while playing in 70 of the team’s 121 sets. She notched eight double-digit dig efforts, including six 20+ save performances, in her 27 matches as a sophomore. As a rookie, Morehead averaged 1.5 digs per set in 21 matches.
As a prepster, Morehead earned two district runner-up finishes with Bellevue West High School, and also was part of a runner-up finish at the JVA National Championship with the River City Juniors club.
Omaha head coach Rose Shires expressed excitement over Morehead’s versatility.
“Courtney is a solid backcourt player who has an excellent platform and dynamic movements in left, middle or right back,” Shires said. “She will be an excellent addition to our defensive play and provide much-needed depth. We are very excited to see what she can accomplish as a Maverick.”
