Petron has announced the addition of Princess Gaiser and Chloe Cortez for the upcoming Philippine Superliga Grand Prix that will be starting in February.

Gaiser is making her return to the court after nearly a year away due to an ACL injury that she suffered during the UAAP last year. It was wildly speculated that Gaiser’s career would end following the injury but shocked the league when she announced her comeback. The over nine-month recovery from the injury put a strain on her physically and mentally but she ultimately decided to come back to the playing court.

“At first, I really didn’t know where to play, but everything came into place. I knew that I needed to be on a team before the years end if I really wanted to play. If no team would accept me, I would just stop playing volleyball and proceed to medical school,” said Gaiser to PhilStar.

It so happened that Petron was in search of a libero, so the need for Gaiser was crucial.

Also coming in for the Grand Prix is Cortez who is coming off a successful season with Generiyka-Ayala. Leading the Petron team will be Cortez’s old University of Santo Tomas coach Ian Fernandez, who is originally the assistant coach for Petron. Fernandez has to take over while head coach Shaq Delos Santos head the university squad in the UAAP.

“I’m very excited knowing that I’ll be with Coach Ian and some former teammates at UST,” said Cortez.
