The Czech Republic is hosting a trio of international coaching legends in Ceske Budejovice for the World Volleyball Coaches Show in June.
The three main speakers for the June 9-10 event are Roberto Piazza, Martin Poeder and Zdenek Smejkal.
Piazza is an Italian volleyball coach with nearly 30 years of experience, who is currently at the helm of the Polish side SKRA Belchatow. Poeder, who has worked with four World Club Championship teams, is the conditioning coach of Trentino.
Smejkal has been in the coaching ranks for 30 years and coached the Czech men’s national team as an assistant in 2012 and 2013 and as head coach in 2014-15. He is currently the head coach of URW Volleyball Raiffeisen Waldviertel team in Austria.
The conference lineup with cover the gamut of skill topics as well as training and conditioning techniques.
Smejkal will open the conference by speaking about the technique, strategy and philosophy of serving. Poeder will follow with a session on conditioning specializing in the development of the 10-16 year old age group. Piazza will then speak about serve receive and different teaching procedures and techniques for a variety of age groups.
The following day, Poeder will kick off the festivities discussing conditioning in adults from 16 years old on up, including both examples of exercises and theories for increasing jump height. Zsejkal will then speak on defense, both blocking and digging, for all ages. Piazza will wrap things up with a session on hitting and setting, including theories and techniques as well as development from basic skills to advanced combinations.
