The 2018 Premier Volleyball League season is set to begin soon with two of their team’s merging to form one team – Pocari Sweat and Air Force.

The union between the two teams will be an experiment as they will be in a rebuilding year since losing a number of their key players. Pocari will be the name of the team for the year, but the majority of players will be coming in from Air Force. Left from Pocari’s original squad are Finals MVP Myla Pablo, Elaine Kasilag and Jeanette Panaga. These players helped Pocari to three championships and a runner-up position in the last two Reinforced and Open Conferences.

Following the expiration of their contracts, leaving Pocari are Gizelle Sy as she is reportedly moving to Foton in the Philippine Super Liga, Melissa Gohing who is transferring to Creamline, Desiree Dadang who is on leave to focus on family and Kai Nepomuceno who will transfer to another PVL squad.

Joining from Air Force will be Iari Yongco, Wendy Semana, Dell Palomata, Joy Cases, Angel Mae Antipuesto and Jocemer Tapic all of which were a part of the team that finished second to Pocari in the Open Conference two years ago.

Following the promotion of Pocari’s head coach Rico de Guzman to manager, Jasper Jimenez and the Air Force coaching staff will take over the coaching duties this season.
