Indykpol AZS Olsztyn has announced in its official website that it has extended coach Roberto Santilli’s contract through 2019. The team currently sits in 7th place of PlusLiga’s standings with a 14-11 record, one place out the playoff race. Here is how he reacted on the news:
I am satisfied with the signing of a new contract. I love Olsztyn, the people living here and the people who make up the club. Each trainer, in addition to sports results, would like to build a good atmosphere. This is the philosophy of our work and the whole sport. That’s why I’ve set a goal to make every player feel good both on and off the pitch. I am glad that I will be able to continue my work in the next season. Negotiations took place in a calm atmosphere. Both parties wanted to continue cooperation. We managed to reach an agreement, which makes me very happy.
Team president Tomas Jankowski also talked to the media about the extension:
Roberto Santilli is a very good trainer, so I’m happy that we managed to reach an agreement. We are satisfied with his work in Olsztyn this season. We would like to continue his philosophy of running the team in the future. Currently, however, we are focusing on the fight for promotion to the play-off phase.
Olsztyn is one of the most traditional teams of Polish volleyball, having debuted in the country’s highest league in the 1965-66 season.
