Renato Russomanno has signed a contract to return to Brazil for the 2017/2018 season. The 6’4” (196 cm) outside hitter will join a Sesi-SP club that reached the semifinals of the Brazilian Superliga last year, losing a decided match to Funvic Taubate in four sets. Sada Cruzeiro went on to win the league title for their fourth consecutive championship, completing a dominant season from start to finish.

The 34 year old Russomanno played his first professional season at the age of 16 in Brazil for Banespa. In total, he has played 18 seasons, the first 16 of which were in Brazil. His stops include three years with Banespa, two years with Nautical, two years with Bento Goncalves, six years with Cimed Esporte Clube, one year for Brasil Volei Clube, and two seasons with Volei Brazil Centro de Excelencia.

He played the last two seasons in Italy, first for Volley Milano in the Italian SuperLega, then most recently Emma Villas Volleyball Siena in the A2 series. Siena won the regular season crown, but was knocked out of the playoffs in the semifinals by Monini Spoleto. BCC-NEP Castellana was the eventual champion of the league.

Russomanno has not spent much time with the Brazilian national team, but he did help the team win a gold medal at the 2011 Pan American Games. In his career, he has led his club teams to three Brazilian Championships, four Catarinense Championships, one South American Club Championship.
