Rhamat Alhassan has signed with Japanese team, NEC Red Rockets, for her first professional season. The former Florida Gator middle blocker was named the 2017 SEC Player of the Year. Additionally she was selected as an AVCA All-American for all four seasons at Florida. She led the SEC in blocks in 2017 with 1.7 per set. Alhassan was the first Florida athlete to win the Honda Sport Award and finished her collegiate career as the second Division 1 player in history to total at least 1,250 kills, 605 blocks and a .420 hitting percentage.
In addition to playing with Florida, Alhassan has also seen action for the USA National Team. Most recently she won the gold medal at the 2017 Pan American Cup, but she also won the bronze medal at the 2016 Pan American Cup as well as the Best Blocker award. Prior to playing for the Senior National Team, Alhassan won the gold medal at the 2014 NORCECA Championships with the Junior National Team. At that tournament, Alhassan was also awarded to the All-Star Team and was named the MVP of the tournament and the Best Blocker.
