Robertlandy Simon Ends Rumors, To Stay With Sada Cruzeiro For 2018-19

There have been many rumors surrounding where Robertlandy Simon will land for the 2018-19 club volleyball season, but it seems that he will stay with Sada Cruzeiro to conclude his contract with the team.

Simon had been receiving offers left and right from clubs in Europe and Asia, with Cucine Lube Civitanova being a big recruiter of the Cuban defector. The move to Cucine Lube would mix Simon with Osmany Juantorena who had a great year in the Italian league with 378 points – and helping the team reach the semifinals of the league.

Simon, however, feels the commitment to Sada Cruzeiro and is in tandem with fellow Cuban defector Yoandy Leal who helped the team to their 5th ever South American Club Championships and third straight. At the championships, Simon was named the MVP of the tournament.

The former Cuban National Teamer has requested from the FIVB to play with the Canadian National Team – he has not yet been accepted to play with Canada.

Currently, Sada Cruzeiro is ranked #1 in the Brazilian Superliga with 57 points and will take on 8th place finisher Lebes/Canoas in their playoff match.
