The Romanian Volleyball Federation has announced in its official website its intention of hosting the 2021 CEV Women’s EuroVolley competition. The news was made public during a visit of CEV’s President, Alexander Boricic, to the country, where he met with Romanian Minster of Youth and Sports Marius Dunka, Romanian Volleyball Federation President Gjorge Vissan, as well as with the President of the Romanian Olympic Committee Mihai Kovaliu. In a note, they all agreed that the eventual hosting of the championship will positively influence the popularity of volleyball and its development in the region, according to Sportal.bg:

“We are ready to work with the Romanian Volleyball Federation to develop volleyball in the country and attract more children to sport with various school projects.”Alexander Boricic

“We are honored with Boricic’s visit and his intentions to help us develop volleyball in Romania and to support our bid to organize the 2012 CEV Women’s EuroVolley. This will be a huge showcase for our volleyball both in Romania and all over Europe.”Gjorge Vissan

Bulgaria has also expressed its desire to be one of EuroVolley 2021’s host countries. Due to its proximity and shared border with Romania, and CEV’s recent decision to host EuroVolley on multiple countries at a time, maybe both countries could be honored with hosting duties in the future.

The 2017 CEV Women’s European Championship was hosted jointly by Georgia and Azerbaijan. Its 2019 edition will be hosted jointly by The Czech Republic, Turkey, Hungary, and Poland.
