Russellville High School in Russellville, Arkansas has hired Ashley Jackson as the new head coach of the RHS girls’ volleyball team after being confirmed in a Tuesday evening board meeting. She was hired away from Beebe High School, which is about 90 minutes east of Russellville.

Jackson played collegiately at Arkansas Tech. She’s familiar with the volleyball culture in Russellville, as that’s where she did her student teaching observation.

She’s spent the last 5 years at Beebe and led the team to conference championships in 2014 and 2015 and was named the conference coach of the year on both occasions.

Jackson replaces the legendary Cindy Jones, who retired at the end of last season after 18 years as the school’s head coach. Jackson led the team to state titles in 2004, 2012, and 2014, and was named the Arkansas Democrat Gazette Coach of the Year in the last of those seasons. Last year, Russellville qualified for the 6A (second largest classification) state semi-finals, where they fell 3-0 to Marion High School. The team graduated two seniors who were members of the 6A All-State team last season.

Jackson says she’ll finish out the academic year at Beebe before coming to Russellville.
