2017 FIVB WORLD U18 GIRLS’ CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 2017 European Champions, Russia, are looking forward to continuing their success at the 2017 U18 Girls’ World Championships. The team’s coach, Alexander Karikov has been a decorated fixture for Russia’s youth, but primarily with the boys’ teams, winning a number of championships. Karikov was at the helm of the team when they won the European Championships this year.

None of the girls on the U18 team this year have been part of a World Championship, though some have made appearances for other larger scale events for Russia.

The squad features a fairly young cast, being that Tatiana Kadochkina is the youngest player on the team at 14 years old, while Ekaterina Pipunyrova is the oldest at 17.

Valeriya Shevchuk will headline for the Russian crew, as she put down 15 points in the finals of the European Championships. Tatiana Kadochkina and Viktoriya Pushina will also be huge contributors for Russia. Shevchuk was named one of the Best Outside Hitters at the competition while Pushina one of the Best Middle Blockers.

In pool play, Russia will face off against Mexico, USA, Belarus and Brazil.
