Contender’s Bracket

Round 1

  • Match 15: Avery Drost / Ty Tramblie (10) def. Shane Donohue / Eric Lucas (15, Q29) 21-16, 21-15 (0:42)
  • Match 16: Billy Allen / Stafford Slick (6) def. Michael Brunsting / Chase Frishman (14, Q2) 21-17, 21-18 (0:43)

  • Match 18: Phil Dalhausser / Nick Lucena (1) def. Brian Bomgren / Tim Bomgren (9) 21-17, 21-15 (0:35)

The top seed in the tournament and the winner of the previous two AVP Tour stops, Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena were shaken by 16 seed and a team making it out of the qualifying round Ricardo Santos/Chaim Schalk. The duos battled through a three-set match 2-1, (19-21, 23-21, 15-9) with Santos/Schalk dropping the first to make a tremendous comeback to stay in the winner’s bracket.

In the second round of the winner’s bracket, Ed Ratledge and Eric Zaun came out of the wood works as the 11 seed to take down Theo Brunner and Casey Patterson who are seeded third in the tournament. In the first round, Ratledge/Zaun came out on top of Billy Allen and Stafford Slick. The loss for Brunner/Patterson, along with a Dalhausser/Lucena win in the contender’s bracket sets up a difficult path for those two squads as they will face each other in the first elimination matches of the tournament.
