Semifinals Set At Agadir World Tour Event

2017 World Tour – Agadir

The Agadir event on the World Tour is in full swing this weekend, with both men’s and women’s competition taking place. This is the final one-star event on the World Tour calendar for the 2017 season.

Women

After surviving a late set scare, Nicole Eiholzer/Dunja Gerson of Switzerland took down fellow countrywomen Laura Caluori/Elena Steinemann 2-0, (21-13, 23-21). The match set the pair into the quarterfinal round of the competition where they took down Italy’s Laura Giombini/Agata Zuccarelli 2-0, (21-16, 21-14).

The semifinals have been set with Eiholzer/Gerson to take on Erika Sofia Mongelos Bobadilla/Gabriela Filippo and Akiko Hasegawa/Azusa Futami of Japan taking on France’s Lezana Placette/Aline Chamereau.

Men

For the men, the semifinals have been determined after quarterfinal play.

France’s Youssef Krou/Quincy Aye made it to the semifinals after a win over Finland’s Pekka Piippo/Jyrki Nurminen 2-0, (21-16, 21-15). The pair will take on Zouheir El Graoui/Mohamed Abicha who defeated Adrian Heidrich/Gabriel Kissling 2-0, (21-14, 21-17 in the quarterfinals.

Qatar’s Julio Cesar Nascimento Junior/Ahmed Tijan enter the semifinals with a win over Switzerland’s Mirco Gerson/Michiel Zandbergen 2-1, (21-10, 17-21, 15-11). They will face Iran’s Bahman Salemiinjehboroun/Rahman Raoufi who won against Spain’s Raul Mesa/Christian Garcia 2-1, (21-19, 13-21, 15-11).
