Experienced Serbian national teamer Jovana Vesovic, who has recently left Italy’s Liu Ju Modena, has signed a contract to play in Turkey’s second division with Manisa BBSK, according to Voleybolunsesi.com.
The 30-year-old Vesovic, a two time Olympian with Serbia in 2008 and 2012, was relegated to Modena‘s bench during the season. With the arrival of USA’s Symone Abbott, things were bound to become much worse in the future, as competition for court time would only become more aggressive, which must have played a part in in her decision to move away from the team. Although a signing in Turkey’s second division was unexpected, it is worth saying that it shouldn’t hinder Vesovic’s career moving forward, as the Turkish second league is actually much more competitive than some of Europe’s lower tier competitions; In addition, this late into the club season, most top tier league teams couldn’t sign Vesovic due to signing date deadlines, not because of her playing quality. At only 30 years of age, it is safe to assume that next season she will be in a top tier team roster
A true volleyball nomad, Vesovic hs enjoyed stints in Switzerland, Romania, Russia, Turkey, Greece, and Azerbaijan.
