Slate Set for Pan American Cup Classification Round

Group play ended on Wednesday and teams will have a day of rest before beginning classification play on Friday. Pool winners earned a direct ticket to the Pan American Cup semifinals, while second play finishers move into the quarterfinal round.

The United States claimed the top spot in Group A with a perfect 5-0 mark, followed by Puerto Rico (4-1) and Argentina (3-2).

The Dominican Republic topped Group B, followed by Cuba and Canada. Cuba won the automatic berth to the quarterfinals based on point ratio, although both went 3-2 in the group to tie for second.

Next up on the slate, are classification matches, where places 5-12 will be determined.

On Friday in Lima, Columbia plays Trinidad & Tobago, while Canada takes on Venezuela in the first step to determining seventh through 10th place. Mexico and Chile will fight to earn their first victory in the 11th/12th place classification match.

The quarterfinals begin in Canete on Friday as well with Puerto Rico taking on Cuba and Peru facing Argentina.

More seedings will be decided on Saturday ahead of the semifinals matches in Canete, where the United States and the Dominican Republic await the quarterfinal winners.

Sunday brings final classification matches for seeds 5-8 and the Pan Am Cup podium matches.
