Slovakian National Team member Peter Michalovic will make a new country his home this upcoming club season as part of transferring to Yaroslavl Yaroslavich in Russia.
A 202 cm (6’7″) opposite, Michalovic owns a 335 cm (131 inch) block and a 350 cm (137 inch) spike. His play has earned him a roster spot on the Slovakian Men’s National Team, where he has been with the team since 2015.
Michalovic, 27 years old, has never played in Russia, and instead has been in Italy each of the last four seasons. Before that he was with Czech Ostrava (2009-2013). In Italy he played for Latina (2013-2014) and Ortona (2014-2015), as most recently his services were utilized by Vibo Valentia in the Italian Serie A1 (2015-2017).
In his first season with Valentia, Michalovic was the team’s top scorer with 515 points in 26 matches on a 46% attack rate. His performance pushed Valentia into the top Italian division, where they resided last season. In that past year, he helped his squad finish in the top eight of the highest Italian League before they dropped their playoff round matches.
Yaroslavich now garners the talent of Michalovic as they make their first appearance in the Russian top division in three years.
