Jenna Gray, first team All-American and Pac-12 Setter of the Year from Stanford, will look to earn the fourth All-America honor of her career on Thursday at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
Gray is in her second year as a javelin thrower following a 16th place finish and second team All-America honors in 2017.
Thus far in 2018, Gray finished as the runnerup to teammate Mackenzie Little at the Pac-12 Championships with a throw of 176-feet 2-inches.
The Shawnee, Kansas, native qualified for the NCAA Championships by finishing among the top 12 at the NCAA West Preliminaries in Sacramento, California, on May 24. Gray was ninth with a throw of 178-6. The throw was five inches off her season best mark of 178-11 which came at the 2018 Big Meet on April 7, and more than 13 feet better than her top mark of 2017 (165-0).
The javelin is set to be contested at 5:15 p.m. PT Thursday. Gray is the 10th thrower in flight one. The top nine marks will advance to the finals.
Gray is a two-time All-American on the hardwood, earning first team honors in both 2016 and 2017, while guiding the Cardinal to the NCAA title as a rookie and the NCAA Final Four as a sophomore.
Gray was a three-sport athlete for Stanford in 2016-17, playing indoor, being a part of the beach team’s No. 1 pair and participating in track part time.
