Still On Top: Calvin Holds Down No. 1 Spot in AVCA DIII Poll

Calvin gained five more first place votes in the AVCA Division III poll, upping its claim on the top spot to 59 of the 70 first place votes and 1735 points.

The Knights are No. 1 for the third straight week and stand at 10-0 after topping Illinois Wesleyan, DePauw and Rose-Hulman at the DePauw Tiger Invitational. The team is set for a Tuesday match against Chicago.

Colorado College picked up nine first place votes and remain at No. 2 for the second straight week after moving to 11-0. The Tigers swept Johnson & Wales and topped Covenant College twice (3-1, 3-0) at the Pikes Peak Challenge.

New to the poll on Week 3 were Wisconsin-Eau Claire (11-1), which checked in at No. 17, and Chicago (12-1), which popped in at No. 19.

The biggest jumper of the week was Juniata, which climbed from No. 13 to No. 7. The Eagles went 3-0 at the East-West Challenge in Claremont, California, best three ranked teams in No. 12 Washington (Mo.), No. 6 Emory and No. 15 Cal Lutheran.

Ohio Northern (9-3) moved up five spots from No. 20 to 15. The team swept No. 17 Hope (Mich.) and Mary Washington before falling to host No. 4 Wittenberg at the Wittenberg Fall Classic.

Ithaca (5-5) plummeted from No. 8 to 16 and Cal Lutheran (6-6) fell six spots from 15 to 21. The Bombers lost twice to Mary Washington and once to Hope at the Wittenberg Fall Classic, while the Regals fell to Washington (Mo.), Texas-Dallas and Juniata.
