Poland, Brazil Tied Atop #VNL Standings, USA One Point Behind
Day 6 of the Volleyball Nations League brought some surprising results, but in the end, the top three teams – Poland, the United States and Brazil – moved to 5-1 although Brazil surged ahead of the USA in the standings with a five-set win.
Germany Hands Poland First VNL Loss in 4, China Upsets France in 5
Germany led Poland in all facets of the game and overcame a 21 point effort by Michal Kubiak for a four-set victory on Sunday, handing Poland its first VNL loss. Chuan Jiang’s efforts were finally rewarded as he poured in 30 points for No. 20 China in a five-set win over No. 10 France.
Poland Stays Atop #VNL Standings with Sweep; France Downs Germany 3-0
China had the top scorer in the match, but Poland owned nearly every other statistical category, rolling to an easy sweep and a 5-0 record atop the Volleyball Nations League standings. Thibault Rossard and Barthelemy Chinenyeze took their turn in the spotlight as the top scorers for France as the team swept past Germany in all phases of the game.
VNL Standings Update: Poland, USA Last Undefeated Teams at 4-0
Poland and the United States are the last two undefeated teams, each moving to 4-0 with very different results on Friday. Poland holds a slight advantage with 12 points to the USA’s 10. Brazil is 3-1, but also boasts 10 points.
Poland Sweeps France; Germany Grabs 1st Win with 3-1 Effort vs. China
Nine blocks and 24 French errors as well as a key substitutionary effort by Dawid Konarski lifted Poland to a sweep of France and a perfect 4-0 VNL mark. Chuan Jiang turned in a match-high 24 points for China, but it was not enough to lift the team to an upset of No. 10 Germany.
