Sweden Earns First Ever FIVB Medal in Aydin, Serbia Wins Men’s Title
Serbia’s Stefan Basta/Lazar Kolaric, which started the tournament in the qualifying rounds, won their first FIVB World Tour gold medal at the Aydin One-Star, while Sweden’s Kristina Thurin/Susanna Thurin made history with a bronze on the women’s side, for their country’s first ever FIVB World Tour medal.

Saturday set the semifinal stage for the Aydin One-Star after a long day of action including the end of women’s pool play, the round of 12 and the quarterfinals, while the men’s podium matches were set by the end of the day.

Americans John Mayer and Trevor Crabb, who started the tournament as a wildcard entry and dropped their opening pool play match, capped a six-match win streak and secured their first ever FIVB medal, winning gold at the Lucerne Three-Star on Sunday. Countrymen Emily Stockman/Kelley Larsen earned bronze at the tournament.
