The TCU Beach volleyball program has added Maddie Beal from Minnesota and Taylor Bradley from LSU Beach as transfers to bolster their 2019 roster.
Beal and Bradley now join two other transfers incoming to the TCU roster, coincidentally enough also from Minnesota and LSU. The other former Golden Gopher is Molly Lohman, another graduate from Minnesota, while Mandi Orellana comes from LSU Beach as well.
Standing at 6’1″, Beal is a graduate transfer who spent four seasons at Minnesota from 2014-2017. She appeared in 87 sets and 51 matches during that time and racked up 24 kills, 31 blocks and nine digs. Prior to that, the Colorado Springs, Colorado native prepped at Cheyenne Mountain High School and was an AVCA All-America Honorable Mention pick.
“We’re excited for Maddie to join our family this year and to see her transition to a beach volleyball player,” TCU Beach head coach Hector Gutierrez said in the team’s release of the addition. “Having Maddie’s experience as an indoor player at Minnesota is going to help us to grow our program. We can’t wait to start working with her on the sand and help her transfer all her skills and experience to the beach game.”
Rounding out the quartet of transfers for 2019 and the second in this round is Bradley, a native of Round Rock, Texas. After starring at Round Rock High School, Bradley joined the LSU Beach program from 2017-2018. As a freshman, she went 10-0 at the number six position in the exhibition match while also appearing throughout the season at the number four spot. As a sophomore in 2018, she saw action in one match – a victory – at the number three position.
“Having another Texas player on the team makes me really happy,” Gutierrez added in the release of the news. “Taylor is a true competitor and she wants to be the best and win every game. That is the mentality we want to have in our team. Her skills and experience at LSU are going to help us to be more competitive this season.”
TCU Beach finished the 2018 season at 10-22 overall.
