Torrance, Calif., Native Gina Cortesi Transfers to UC San Diego

UC San Diego will welcome 6-1 outside hitter Gina Cortesi to its roster this spring as the Torrance, California, native transfers in from Louisiana Tech.

In 2017, Cortesi averaged 2.41 kills per set, second most among Louisiana Tech players, while also adding 1.56 digs and 0.59 blocks per set, as a rookie.

The South Torrance High School alum was team MVP her junior and senior seasons en route to Pioneer League MVP accolades. Cortesi led her team to a CIF State runner-up finish.
