American Krista de Geest has just signed a contract with Bundesliga’s VfB Suhl LOTTO Thüringen, per the team’s official website.  The 28 year old 6’3″ middle blocker, who is transferring out from Romania’s CSM Lugoj, played her college ball in Northern Iowa. She started her overseas career in 2013, with a successful season in the Swedish league for Svedalla Volley, where her powerful play netted her the nickname “Baby Faced Killer” by locals.

VfB Suhl LOTTO Thüringen has had successful Bundesliga seasons in the past, but is currently undergoing a rough patch, as they finished second to last in the last season. Hopefully, De Geest’s aggressive play can put them back on track.

German Bundesliga is known to be a weak domestic league. However, things may just be looking a little brighter, as FIVB’s president Ary Graça cited the country by name when commenting the expansion goals of the federation. We’ll be profiling Bundesliga teams and players this season, with full coverage and recaps of the games HERE.
